God, our abundant provider! – Goh Family Updates April 2019

Our beloved friends and family,

April has been a month of encounter and revelation. We have been encountering God’s faithfulness, provision, healing, perfect love, and guidance.

We have so much thanksgiving!

Riverlife Missions Drive

Sheryl was invited by our church missions department to design, set up, and serve in the missions drive this year. It was a privilege for Sheryl to design the exhibition boards. Thanks Yihui and team for this opportunity, you guys are such a blessing to work with. We were also very excited to play a part in communicating God’s heart for missions to His people. Big question is, will you and I answer God’s call??

Restoring the Foundations (RTF)

RTF is an integrated ministry approach to inner healing and deliverance that we both believe is very integral in discipleship. We have been attending training sessions that start us from the basics of basics, equipping us to minister RTF. Excellent teaching familiarised us with the framework of RTF, but it was the small group practice that helped to solidify what we had learnt. We invited God to lead the healing time and practiced listening to the Holy Spirit’s voice for ourselves and one another. Perhaps the Lord has installed for us a ministry like RTF, to help bring healing to the people of Thailand one person at a time.

Fishing with Sunday School Kids

Jason came alongside his good buddy Ben to support him in his Sunday School ministry. We had the kids build their own rods from scratch (yes it’s possible!) and brought them to the canal behind our church to catch some fish. All of them caught at least 1, but most caught 2 fishes or more! It was memorable to see how the kids felt the satisfaction and joy of building something and using it to catch fish. Their joy on their faces; priceless. Father God must have had a good laugh looking at the kids freaking out at the fish flipping around!

Jason Preaching at All Saints Home

I take this faith step out of my comfort zone when given the opportunity – to preach in Mandarin. Even though I was preaching to a group of 50 old folks who were either sleeping or struggling to understand my Mandarin, I had only 1 audience which is God! I’ve been leading worship or preaching at this home once in 2 months, whenever I’m in Singapore, for about 2 years already. Here I am, preaching about 5 loaves and 2 fishes. These trips to the old folks home never fail to make me reflect on life and my ultimate destination, which is my Father’s Home. How can I rejoice and give thanks through my life’s seasons and valleys? By the way, Sheryl took the photo for me and commented that I looked so passionate and happy preaching about food (literally).

Financial Support Raising

As we committed our total financial budget for the next 1 year of ministry into God’s hands and trusted him, we witness how our faithful Father is an abundant provider. Over the past week, our support raising status increased by 30 percent! That’s really amazing. Almost 50 people came alongside us to give financially. Regardless the amount, we are so thankful for each individual and their giving heart. Thank you for saying Yes to God, and for saying Yes to us.

What coming up for J & S?

We will be flying on 1 June 2019 at 12.55pm. Do let us know if you would like to come and pray over us and send us off!

The first few weeks in Thailand will have us travelling a lot due to visa matters (it’s really complicated). We will also have to quickly settle our accommodation, among other things. Thai language studies will start and soon enough, we will be preparing for the next YWAM Chiang Mai Discipleship Training School that starts on 22 August 2019. We’re so excited to see what God will be doing in the lives of our students!

Please pray
1. We will be able to find spiritual family and friends in Thailand
2. For God’s protection over our marriage as we go through another period of transition
3. Journey mercies as we travel in June for visa matters, and for God’s continued provision in the administrative and logistical matters we need to attend to as we settle down in Thailand
4. We will be able to finish raising the required finances for our first year in ministry
5. For a keen sense of Holy Spirit’s voice as we serve and love the people of Thailand.

Thank you for journeying with us!

Hosea 6:3

Let us acknowledge the Lord;
let us press on to acknowledge him.

As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;

he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.”
